  Venue Description:

  The British Library holds 150 million items from all countries in virtually all known languages. Its collection of books is second only to the Library of Congress in the USA and they receive one copy of every book published in the UK and Northern Ireland as part of its legal deposit status. The library was originally part of the British Museum until 1973, and in 1983 it acquired the British Sound Archive. The library has been housed in its current purpose-built building since 1997 and the reading rooms are open to any member of the public who has a genuine need to use the facilities. The British Library also has some of its rare collection on display including a copy of Beowulf, a Gutenberg Bible, the Canterbury Tales, and the Magna Carte. It also houses the world?s oldest book, The Diamond Sutra.
